Algebra 1

The objectives of the module Algebra 1:m

  • Develop an understanding of logical concepts: Students will learn about the fundamentals of logic, including propositions, logical connectives, truth tables, and the process of logical reasoning.

  • Understand sets and set operations: Students will study sets, including set notation, types of sets, and how to perform operations on sets such as union, intersection, difference, and complement.

  • Explore functions: Students will learn the definition of functions, including domain and range, types of functions (e.g., one-to-one, onto), function notation, and how to perform operations with functions like composition and inversion.

  • Analyze binary relations: Students will explore the concept of binary relations, including properties such as reflexivity, symmetry, transitivity, and equivalence relations, as well as their applications.

  • Investigate algebraic structures: Students will examine algebraic structures such as groups, rings, and fields, understanding their basic properties and how they are used in various mathematical contexts.

  • Enhance problem-solving skills: Through practice with logical reasoning, set operations, functions, and algebraic structures, students will improve their ability to solve a wide range of mathematical problems.

  • Strengthen mathematical reasoning and communication: Students will develop the ability to reason logically, communicate mathematical ideas clearly, and present solutions to problems in a structured and coherent manner.

This approach helps students gain a deeper understanding of the concepts while developing important skills for higher-level mathematics.

Analysis 1

Doing mathematics means speaking a very precise language without ever lying. Roughly speaking the mathematical sciences can be divided into three interrelated parts: Analysis, Algebra, and Geometry. In turn, Analysis brings together several branches: Real, Complex, Functional, digital, Harmonic,... Mathematical analysis also offers an opportunity to learn to reason logically, rigorously and correctly. Throughout this semester we will focus on Real Analysis, which forms the basis of other types of Analysis.
